He would have loved it. While he admitted that he wasn't too up to date on things like blogs and the cost of a subway in NYC, he got a certain perverse thrill out of being shocked by these things.
Besides a subway token, a list of how some things have changed that he marvelled at (today versus Dad/Grandpa's memory):
Gas: $3.50 per gallon v. 6 Gallons for a dollar
Men's Suit (Italian): $1500 v. $200
Tuition, Univ. of Alabama (out of state): $13,000 per year v. $20 three times per year
House, San Fernando Valley: $800,000 (Addison) v. $36,500 (Hayvenhurst)
Movie Ticket: $10.50 v 15 cents
Dodger Box Seat Ticket:: $45.00 v
$3.50
Ford Sedan: $25,000 v. $2,500
I could probably go on...those are ones that repeatedly shocked him...feel free to add some!
